It is commonly used in hospitals during labor and delivery, post-surgery units, pediatric units and dental offices.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900\">Are there risks or side effects associated?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Nitrous oxide is a \u201cdrug\u201d with side effects and contraindications for use. Although the treatment is generally well-tolerated, possible side effects include: nausea, vomiting, excessive sweating, euphoria, excitement, deep sedation, drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, dysphoria, amnesia, and headaches. These should subside once use is discontinued.
