Dr. Richard Leon Bridgewater is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist Of Bahamian American descent and locally raised in Miami, Florida. Dr. Bridgewater received a Congressional nomination and attended West Point, The United States Military Academy. However, with the dream to be a Cardiothoracic Surgeon, he went on to study medicine and received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Chemistry from Cornell University and a Medical Degree from Yale University School of Medicine.

He began his General Surgery internship and residency at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital before returning to Yale to find his true gift- Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed his residency at Albany Medical Center in 1992 and he has been Board Certified since 1994. Extreme hard work, commitment to knowledge, honesty, and humility has been his pursuit for 29 years.

He is fully licensed to practice Medicine in the Bahamas and has served as Chief Obstetrics Consultant for the Department of Public Health.
