Dr. Haushalter completed her undergraduate degree at Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama, and then obtained her medical degree and completed her residency at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. She practiced dermatology in Indiana for several years before moving to Richmond, VA. Along with her husband and two active boys, she is excited to call South Florida her permanent home!

With over 14 years of dermatology experience, she is confident in treating all diseases of skin, hair, and nails. However, nail disease, hair loss, and inflammatory skin conditions are some of her favorites. She is an expert in skin cancer diagnosis and treatment, which is very much needed in South Florida as we are #2 in the world for the incidence of skin cancer. She not only thrives on treating the most common conditions, but looks forward to the challenging cases that have run out of treatment options, need a diagnosis, or require complicated therapies.

Yani Cabrera was born and raised in Miami, FL. She has over 10 years of experience in Dermatology 7 of which have been with Dr. Haushalter! Yani serves as our Office Manager while continuing to provide direct patient care as a Medical Assistant and “right hand woman” to Dr. H doing surgical procedures, drawing blood, administering “Blue Light Therapy” and ALWAYS keeping a smile even on our busiest days! When not at work she loves watching her son play baseball and supporting the baseball community by helping run a baseball facility for boys & girls who love to play ball!

Dr. Ingrid Herskovitz is a board-certified dermatologist by the American Academy of Dermatology as well as by the Brazilian Society of Dermatology, both of which are the most significant Dermatology institutions in the US for the first and in Brazil for the latter. They require the highest standard in dermatology practice.

Dr. Herskovitz graduated from Faculdade de Medicina do ABC in her hometown, São Paulo, Brazil. After medical school, she was a resident in dermatology for 3 years in the same university. She became board-certified in dermatology in Brazil and worked as a dermatology attending at 2 thriving medical practices for 5 years.

She then moved to Miami to be with her husband. At that time, she proceeded to work towards a dermatology degree in the US. She worked as a researcher at the University of Miami in many areas of dermatology including pediatric dermatology with Dr. Lawrence Schachner, hair pathology with Dr. Antonella Tosti and wound healing with Dr. Robert Kirsner. She then completed a dermatology residency at the University of Miami. She has published many journal articles and has contributed to multiple dermatology textbooks.

Dr. Herskovitz has the expertise that will meet your family’s health needs. She is competent, empathetic, thorough, collaborative and she is a savvy communicator. She speaks English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Dr. Herskovitz cares about her patients not only about their conditions. She has joined Dr. Haushalter to see adolescent and adult patients and to offer novel cosmetic treatments. She also has experience in cosmetic dermatology which she applies conservatively to her patients.

Dr. Mercedes Gonzalez is a Miami native who is happy to be back in her hometown and practicing dermatology at the Pediatric Center of Excellence. After graduating from Emory University, she earned her degree at Rutgers–New Jersey Medical School in 2004. Always drawn to working with children, Dr. Gonzalez accepted the prestigious pediatrics program at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York–Columbia University where she solidified her interest in treating skin disorders. She then completed a dermatology residency at the top-ranked New York School of Medicine, followed by a clinical fellowship in pediatric dermatology.

Dr. Gonzalez’s gentle, child-friendly bedside manner, combined with her broad knowledge of childhood skin diseases and their treatments, make her the preferred pediatric dermatologist in Miami. In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Gonzalez currently serves as a clinical assistant professor at FIE Herbert School of Medicine and serves at as faculty advisor at UM Miller School of Medicine. She has published over 30 journal articles ad has contributed to multiple dermatology textbooks.

Monica Mato is a Miami native who stayed true to her roots by completing all of her training in the sunshine state. She attended the highly coveted University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies for her undergraduate and graduate studies, where she received a Master of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Upon graduation, she continued her training at: Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, University of Miami Hospital, and South Miami Hospital. It was working in the urgent care of these hospitals that she became exposed to many dermatology disorders and developed an interest in the specialty.

Monica then ventured off to working at Lexington Surgeons, a scar and plastic surgery center, where she gained much of her dermatology and surgical experience. While she enjoyed the hands on nature of skin surgery, this was the first year she was not working with children and realized her passion lied in pediatric medicine. When she discovered the opportunity at Pediatric Dermatology of Miami, it was the perfect fit. She wanted to branch away from the hospital setting and was excited to be working with children again.

In her spare time Monica loves to cook and bake. When she’s not in the office her favorite thing to do is make homemade ice cream with her husband and dog at home. Although she does not have any children yet, she expects to see some in her future.
