Advanced Laparoscopy

Advanced laparoscopy is one of the most commonly used minimally invasive surgical techniques. Instead of a large open incision, procedures are performed through several small incisions using a tiny camera and specialized, thin surgical instruments. The camera provides high-definition images from inside the body, which are displayed on a video monitor to guide the surgeon throughout the procedure.

Laparoscopy is commonly used to diagnose and treat conditions such as ovarian cysts, adhesions, fibroids, endometriosis, and infections. It also allows surgeons to obtain tissue samples for biopsy and to perform procedures such as removal of the uterus, ovaries, or fallopian tubes when indicated.

In many cases, laparoscopy can be safely performed as an alternative to traditional open surgery (laparotomy), which requires a larger abdominal incision. Compared to open surgery, laparoscopy is often associated with less postoperative pain, fewer complications, lower overall costs, and faster recovery. Many procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis, allowing patients to return home the same day.
