Carmen Mejia-Carvajal, MD

She worked at RUSH Medical Center and Cook County Hospital in Chicago as Assistant Attending Physician and Attending Physician, respectively, for the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department.

Later on she moved back to PR, where she worked as Pediatric Hematologist Consultant for three Main Hospital, as well as a general pediatrician in a level two nursery and in a pediatric office.

Since 2016 Dr Mejia-Carvajal has been diligently serving the Southeast Florida pediatric community.

She is a Board-Certified Pediatrician, Certified Lactation Consultant, and currently completing her Autism Navigator Course. Dr. Mejia-Carvajal loves to care for children; as a mom herself, she understands the concerns of parents and always goes the extra mile to help her patients. She enjoys providing ongoing care as well as educating parents and children on the specifics behind the treatments she recommends.

She has special interest in children with Autism Disorders, Behavioral Problems, Anemia, Bleeding Disorders, Newborns, Breastfeeding, Nutrition and Child Development.

In her spare time, Dr. Mejia-Carvajal loves to spend time with her husband, her beloved daughter Laila, other family and friends, sit at the beach, dance and participate in her daughter extracurricular activities and outdoor activities.
