About Heather
Heather Tarno, APRN, FNP-BC, is an experienced advanced practice registered nurse and board-certified family nurse practitioner caring for patients in St. Augustine and throughout Northeast Florida. She specializes in primary care and her clinical background enables her to support patients with thoughtful, individualized care focused on long-term health and wellness.
Heather earned her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Cincinnati. She also graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
Throughout her career, Heather has worked in a variety of clinical settings. This experience has helped shape her well-rounded approach to patient care and her focus on long-term health and wellness.
Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Heather spent a decade as a registered nurse at Flagler Hospital. During that time, she served as an emergency department staff nurse, transitional care unit charge nurse, and clinical trainer. In these roles, she played an integral part in staff development, mentorship, and maintaining high standards of patient care.
In addition, Heather is also committed to advancing the nursing profession through education. She has served as a clinical adjunct professor at St. Johns River State College, where she instructed undergraduate nursing students in acute care settings, including Baptist Health, UF Flagler Hospital, and HCA facilities throughout Florida.
Heather is board-certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and maintains active licensure as a registered nurse. Her certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Outside of her professional work, Heather enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She is actively involved in coaching girls’ softball and enjoys traveling and boating with her family.
