Compassionate about your child’s care

Pediatric dermatology is a subspecialty of dermatology focusing on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of skin, hair, and nail conditions in children, including newborns, toddlers, school-age, adolescents, and young adults. Board-certified pediatric dermatologists hold credentials in both dermatology and pediatric dermatology, and some may also be board certified in pediatrics, as is Dr. Gonzalez.

Dr. Mercedes E. Gonzalez offers unique expertise in the evaluation and treatment of all skin, hair, and nail conditions in newborns, children, teenagers, and young adults. She quickly develops a rapport with her young patients and puts them at ease. Dr. Gonzalez is passionate about the skin and skin disease as well as educating children and families on skin health. She makes complex topics straightforward and understandable.

Certified by both the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Gonzalez is one of only a few board-certified pediatric dermatologists in South Florida. She is able to effectively treat even the most challenging skin conditions, not only due to her advanced knowledge of skin disease and extensive therapeutic knowledge, but also because of an innate ability to develop close relationships with her patients and their families.
