You finally work up the nerve to describe something uncomfortable \u2014 urinary leaking, pelvic pressure, pain during sex, heavy periods, or another concern that has begun affecting your everyday life \u2014 and you hope the person across from you is really listening.<\/p>\n

Someone sits down. Asks a follow-up question. Then another one. Explains what may be happening inside your body in terms you understand and gives you the opportunity to ask questions of your own.<\/p>\n

That patient-centered approach is central to the care provided by Dr. Thomas Toussaint<\/a>\u00a0and the Pelvic Laser Institute of Florida<\/a>\u00a0in Ocoee.<\/p>\n

As a board-certified OB\/GYN and fellowship-trained pelvic floor specialist, Dr. Toussaint provides care for women throughout Ocoee, Orlando, Winter Garden, Windermere and surrounding Central Florida communities.<\/p>\n

A Career Built Around Women\u2019s Health<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Toussaint\u2019s medical career began at the Universit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00c9tat d\u2019Ha\u00efti in Port-au-Prince, where he earned his medical degree and completed OB\/GYN training at H\u00f4pital de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00c9tat d\u2019Ha\u00efti.<\/p>\n

After practicing medicine in Haiti, he continued his training in the United States, completing an additional OB\/GYN residency at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York.<\/p>\n

His career has also included clinical research and academic work involving gynecologic conditions. That combination of clinical care, surgical experience and continued education ultimately led him toward the areas that remain central to his practice today: gynecology, pelvic health, bladder disorders and minimally invasive surgery.<\/p>\n

Advanced Training in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

From 2011 to 2012, Dr. Toussaint completed a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at the Nezhat Medical Center in Atlanta under Dr. Ceana Nezhat.<\/p>\n

His advanced surgical training included techniques involving laparoscopy, robotic-assisted surgery, hysteroscopy and other approaches used in the treatment of complex gynecologic and pelvic conditions.<\/p>\n

Today, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery<\/a>\u00a0remains an important part of the care available through the Pelvic Laser Institute of Florida.<\/p>\n

Minimally invasive techniques may be considered for a variety of conditions depending on a patient’s diagnosis, overall health and treatment goals. Compared with traditional open procedures, these approaches use smaller incisions and may offer advantages such as less scarring and a shorter recovery for appropriate patients.<\/p>\n

However, no single surgical approach is right for everyone. Dr. Toussaint evaluates each patient individually to determine whether a laparoscopic, vaginal, robotic or other surgical approach may be appropriate.<\/p>\n
