Pelvic Ultrasounds in Miami, FL

Pelvic Ultrasounds

Pelvic ultrasound imaging is performed to assess the vagina, uterus, ovaries, cervix, or fallopian tubes, during the evaluation of female reproductive disorders. Referred to as fetal ultrasound, this type of diagnostic tests is also performed to follow the progress of a developing fetus during a woman’s pregnancy.

Conditions That Typically Require a Pelvic Ultrasound

  • Uterine fibroids
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
  • Ovarian cysts
  • Ectopic pregnancy
  • Endometriosis
  • Abnormal bleeding
You will receive a complete list of instructions prior to your pelvic ultrasound. These instructions will vary from one type of pelvic ultrasound to another but are all quite simple and easy to follow.

If you have any questions about how to prepare for your examination, please contact South Florida Women’s Care as soon as possible to have a specialist address your concerns.

Due to the more invasive nature of transvaginal ultrasounds, these imaging tests may be mildly uncomfortable, but should certainly never be painful.

A transabdominal ultrasound does not require the insertion of any sort of probe.  Instead, this type of pelvic ultrasound is performed using a device that gently glides across the stomach, which means it is a completely painless procedure.

Our Services

Obstetrics

The field of obstetrics caters to the needs of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.  By developing a strong partnership with you we want to ensure a happy, safe, and successful delivery. Pregnancy is a very special time in a woman’s life, and it should be attended with special care.

Childbirth Classes

This class is intended to provide our expecting couples with preparation for the birth of their baby. Each class is a four-hour session.

Gynecology

Although the field of gynecology is not in women’s good books, its existence has helped diagnose and detect numerous health issues that affect women during their reproductive age. While obstetrics takes care of women during pregnancy and the postpartum period, gynecology treats all other women, from puberty to menopause.
