At the age of 19 years I left home to become a registered Nurse, almost immediately after I had qualified. I applied to the Royal Berkshire School of Midwifery United Kingdom in absolute awe of the midwives I had witnessed during my nursing rotation. In 1989, I proudly became one of those British Trained Midwives.
I worked for 2 years gaining skills in water birth deliveries, perineal repair and community/hospital midwifery. I got the itch to travel and landed in Abu Dhabi in the Middle East for 2 years, then made the leap to the United States of America.
Here, I had to go back to school and redo the midwifery program again, which allowed me to sit the ACNM Boards. I spent 11 years as a hospitalist midwife working night shift on Labor and Delivery in Broward County. Fast forward to now 33 years later, I am in my dream job, doing Birth Center Births. I feel totally blessed to be trusted by so many to allow me to be part of some of the most beautiful and intimate moments of life.
