The parents of his patients find this very reassuring to know that when their child is ill, they can speak with Dr. Bergman directly who knows them best.”

Dr. Bergman strongly supports the vaccination schedule that is outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the CDC. He has made a pledge to all of the families in his practice that all children will be vaccinated with at least the mandatory vaccinations that are required by the public school system. These include the DTaP, IPV, HIB, Hepatitis B, Prevnar 13, MMR, and Varicella vaccinations. Dr. Bergman feels that this is by far the most important thing that pediatricians due for children to prevent life threatening diseases. The parents of his patients understand that these vaccines will be administered in a timely fashion according the schedule outlined by the CDC. Any parents that refuse these vaccines will be asked to find another pediatric practice for their children. This guideline is to protect the other patients in our office from being potentially exposed to a life-threatening communicable disease. Finally, the splitting up of vaccines or delay in immunization has been found to have no benefit to the child. In fact, delay in immunization puts a child at increased risk for illness.

Telemedicine makes it easy for your adolescent or young adult to remain in touch with their doctor even though they may be miles away from school or on vacation. Refills of prescriptions can also be handled in the same manner

Dr. Bergman can always be reached 24/7. Many issues can be treated via telemedicine and thereby avoid unnecessary ER or Urgent Care Visits. Prescriptions can be e-prescribed to an out-of-town pharmacy. Should your child require testing or further evaluation, Dr. Bergman will help you to find local urgent care or emergency room to visit and will discuss the findings and treatment plan with the physician on-call in that center.

Dr. Bergman was one of the first pediatricians to onboard telemedicine services in his practice. Many issues can be handled in this fashion. Of course, it is always better to have an in-person visit. You can be assured that Dr. Bergman has taken all the necessary safety precautions in his office to ensure your child’s safety. However, a telemedicine visit is always an option – even for after-hour emergencies which may prevent an unnecessary trip to Urgent Care or even the Emergency Room.

Dr. Bergman is on staff at Palms West Hospital and is one of the few pediatricians in the area that still admits his own patients and monitors their care while in the hospital. It is nice to have a familiar face and someone who is very familiar with your child’s medical history when he or she is ill enough to require hospitalization. While Dr. Bergman sees newborns at Palms West Hospital and Wellington Regional Medical Center, please remember that Palms West Hospital is the only facility in the western communities that has an inpatient Pediatric Floor and Pediatric ICU.

The Good physician treats the Disease; the Great physician treats the Patient who has the disease.
