Meet Dr. Erika Fernandez

Dr. Erika Fernandez is a board-certified general pediatrician at Children’s Medical Center, dedicated to providing thoughtful, comprehensive care to children and their families. A Miami native, she combines her strong academic background with a warm, approachable style that puts families at ease.

Education & Training
Dr. Fernandez earned her Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Biology and English, plus a minor in Chemistry, from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL.

She completed her postdoctoral training at Memorial Healthcare System’s Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, FL.

A Bit About Dr. Fernandez
Dr. Fernandez is passionate about partnering with families to support their children’s health at every stage. She speaks both English and conversational Spanish, she enjoys connecting with a diverse community and making every patient feel heard and cared for. Dr. Fernandez has a special interest in preventive medicine, functional medicine, and the gut microbiome, and is passionate about partnering with families to support children’s long-term health and wellness.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys cooking, experimenting with new recipes, and staying active through fitness. Fun fact: she shares her love of pediatrics with her identical twin sister, who is also a pediatric practitioner.

Doctors Van Putten, Samuels, Gonzalez and Budowsky are the absolute best! I have a 5-year-old daughter who is particular about seeing a female doctor and gets frequent ear infections. They are always able to accommodate, assess and treat her as well as twin two year olds who can be difficult to manage. All of the physicians are incredibly nice, have plenty of patience, never rush you nor make you feel like whatever is happening is abnormal.

I drive 40 minutes one way to this doctor because they always get us in (even on weekends and holidays) and provide great service. We’ve seen four different doctors, and they are all so nice, have great bedside manner, and really listen to you.

Great place! My 10 week old daughter had an eye infection. We called them and got an immediate appointment. We walked in and were seen by a doctor within minutes. The doctor turned out to be the same Doctor who had been my wife’s pediatrician when she was a child. This was our third visit to this location since our baby was born and the staff are always great. I highly recommend this practice.
