Scheduling Prenatal Visits in South Florida (and First Pediatric Exams)
Prenatal visits can be scheduled any afternoon at 1:15 PM with your preferred physician. After your baby’s born, the doctor on call for the specific hospital will see your baby the same day. When you arrive at the hospital, the staff will ask which pediatrician you wish to choose. Here, you can state “Children’s Medical Center.” We are affiliated with Memorial Hospitals and round at Memorial West, Miramar and Regional. After this, the hospital will notify the on-call physician, and your baby will be visited within the first 24 hours of their life. After being discharged, you will also be able to schedule your baby’s first appointment within one or two days.
When scheduling your appointment, you should know that you can see any nurse practitioner or physician you prefer. As Children’s Medical Center is a group practice, we recommend getting familiar with a couple of different providers so we can provide continuity of care. You can always request a specific provider for your well and checkups if you prefer.
You should also know that we have three different locations, enabling you to schedule an appointment where your preferred provider works. You can also see a different physician if you prefer to visit a particular office. The choice is entirely up to you. Also, it’s also a great idea to register on our portal so you have access to your baby’s chart at all times.
Lastly, you should know that we participate with most insurances. As such, you should ensure that your child is added to the given insurance within the first 30 days of their life. In cases that this does not happen, you will be responsible for paying for the expenses out of your pocket. In case you have an HMO or Medicaid plan, you should make sure that one of the doctors working in our office is selected as the Primary Care Physician or PCP.

Doctors Van Putten, Samuels, Gonzalez and Budowsky are the absolute best! I have a 5-year-old daughter who is particular about seeing a female doctor and gets frequent ear infections. They are always able to accommodate, assess and treat her as well as twin two year olds who can be difficult to manage. All of the physicians are incredibly nice, have plenty of patience, never rush you nor make you feel like whatever is happening is abnormal.
My little one has been going here since he was born, and they have always been amazing. I drive 40 minutes one way to this doctor because they always get us in (even on weekends and holidays) and provide great service. We’ve seen four different doctors, and they are all so nice, have great bedside manner, and really listen to you.
My family has been part of this practice for 24 years. Thanks to Dr. Nancy Chiang and her staff for providing excellent care.
We’ve been going to Children’s Medical Center since 1997 when my son was born. Three children later, and we’re still going. We had a great experience yesterday with Denise!! She was amazing, kind, friendly and professional. So much so that my 17-year-old daughter left there saying “I may want to be a nurse practitioner.” Thank you!!
Have been going to the Doctors here since my son was born. Almost 5 years now. Love them. And the staff has always been extremely helpful as well. Whenever we need paperwork, referrals, orders for DME etc. they have always come through for us.

Great place! My 10 week old daughter had an eye infection. We called them and got an immediate appointment. We walked in and were seen by a doctor within minutes. The doctor turned out to be the same Doctor who had been my wife’s pediatrician when she was a child. This was our third visit to this location since our baby was born and the staff are always great. I highly recommend this practice.
