HPV Vaccine in Plantation, Florida

Various strains of the human papillomavirus spread through sexual contact. Thus, many cases of cervical cancer are associated with HPV.

Gardasil 9 is the HPV vaccine approved in the US and helps both male and female patients.

This vaccine prevents most cases if the patient hasn’t been exposed to the virus. In theory, the vaccination of male patients prevents the spread of HPV in females.

Who Needs Gardasil 9?

HPV Vaccine for Female Patients:

Gardasil 9 is a vaccine indicated in females 9 through 45 years of age. This type of HPV vaccination method helps prevent multiple medical issues.

Some of the cancers HPV vaccine Gardasil 9 prevents are:

  • Cervical
  • Vulvar
  • Vaginal
  • Anal
  • Oropharyngeal
  • Head and Neck Cancers

Also, the HPV vaccine helps with other difficulties caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) Types 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58. Genital warts caused by HPV Types 6 and 11 can also be avoided with HPV vaccination.

HPV Vaccine for Male Patients

Gardasil 9 is indicated in males 9 through 45 years of age as well. In this case, the HPV vaccine is used to prevent anal, oropharyngeal, and other head and neck cancers caused by HPV Types 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58.

But also anal precancerous or dysplastic lesions caused by HPV Types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58; and genital warts caused by HPV Types 6 and 11.

The oropharyngeal and head and neck cancer indication is approved under accelerated approval based on its effectiveness in preventing HPV-related anogenital disease.

Continued approval for this indication may be contingent upon verification and description of clinical benefit in a confirmatory trial. Gardasil 9 does not eliminate the necessity for vaccine recipients to undergo screening for the mentioned cancers as healthcare providers recommend.

What GARDASIL 9 Vaccine Isn’t

The HPV vaccine Gardasil 9 has not been demonstrated to provide protection against diseases caused by:

  • HPV types not covered by the vaccine
  • HPV types to which a person has previously been exposed through sexual activity
  • Not all vulvar, vaginal, anal, oropharyngeal, and other head and neck cancers are caused by HPV. So, Gardasil 9 protects only against those cancers caused by HPV Types 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58.

Vaccination with Gardasil 9 may not result in protection for all vaccine recipients.
