Botulinum Toxin (Botox ®)

What is Botox?

Botox is a natural, purified protein, which in very low doses relaxes overactive muscles of the face that cause frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet around the eyes to appear. Treatment is simple and non-surgical and involves a series of tiny injections in the wrinkle areas.

Is it safe?

Botox has been used safely to treat a variety of conditions for over 15 years. Botox is FDA approved for the treatment of frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet.

Will it drastically change my appearance?

No. You can expect a dramatic improvement in the appearance of wrinkles. You will begin to see the effect of the product within 2 to 7 Days but it may take up to two weeks to notice the full effect of the treatment. Results last, on average, 3 to 4 months.

Facial fillers

Facial fillers are used to enhance the beauty and volume of the lips. They can also be used to balance the face and provide support due to age-related loss of volume in the mid face by filling the cheeks, eliminating wrinkles around the mouth or the “smile lines,” and providing volume by filling the area of the chin.

There’s very minimal recovery or downtime and you can step into the office for treatment and go back to your normal life once you leave the office.

The results are immediate and can last up to 12-18 months. Plan to do this procedure at least two weeks in advance of an event as there may be some normal amount of swelling that can occur and can take up to two weeks to reach your ultimate response.

Before your treatment, avoid any medications that could prolong bleeding such as aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, Vit E or fish oil for 24 hours prior to the procedure as these products could cause excessive bleeding and bruising at the injection site.

For the first 24 hours after treatment you should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages in order to help minimize the risk of temporary redness, swelling, and or itching at the treatment sites.

After the treatment some temporary injection-related reactions can occur. This could include redness, pain, firmness, swelling and bumps. Studies have shown that these are usually mild to moderate in nature and clear up on their own in seven days or less. If you experience swelling at the injection site you may use an ice pack for a brief period of time.

You will see immediate improvement in the treatment areas. Results may vary and supplemental touchups may be required as every person reacts differently to treatments.
