Multiple Birth Care
in Boca Raton and Boynton, FL

Multiple birth treatment is the care and management of pregnancies that result in more than one fetus, such as twins, triplets, or more. The treatment options for multiple pregnancies will depend on the number of fetuses, as well as the gestational age, and the overall health of the mother and fetuses.

For women who are pregnant with twins, the treatment will typically involve close monitoring of the pregnancy, including frequent prenatal visits and ultrasound exams. The goal is to ensure that the fetuses are growing and developing properly and that there are no complications, such as preterm labor or placental problems.

Triplets or higher-order multiple pregnancies

For women pregnant with triplets or higher-order multiple pregnancies, the treatment may include more intensive monitoring, bed rest, and hospitalization to prevent preterm labor. In some cases, the fetuses may need to be delivered prematurely to ensure the health and survival of both the mother and the babies.

If there are any complications, such as abnormal growth or development of the fetuses, or if the mother has a medical condition that puts her or the fetuses at risk, the doctors may recommend a procedure called selective reduction. This is a procedure where one or more of the fetuses are terminated to increase the chances of survival of the remaining fetuses.
