Tubal Ligation
in Boca Raton & Boynton, FL
Tubal ligation, also known as tubectomy or “getting your tubes tied,” is a surgical procedure that permanently closes the fallopian tubes, preventing pregnancy. It is a common form of female sterilization and is usually performed on women who do not want to have any more children.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, which means the patient is asleep and pain-free during the surgery. Several different techniques can be used to perform tubal ligation, including minilaparotomy, laparoscopy, and laparotomy. The technique will depend on the patient’s circumstances and the surgeon’s preference.
The Process of Getting Your Tubes Tied
The surgeon will make a small incision in the abdomen during the tubectomy and locate the fallopian tubes. The tubes are then cut, tied, or sealed using a variety of methods, including clips, rings, or electrocoagulation (burning). Getting the tubes tied generally takes about 30 minutes to an hour. The incision is then closed with sutures or staples.
Most people can go home on the same day as the tubal ligation procedure, although some may need to stay in the hospital overnight. It is common to experience some pain, cramping, and bleeding after a tubectomy, but these symptoms should resolve within a few days.

Dr. Ciaccio is one of the best doctors I have ever met. She has been so attentive and supportive throughout my entire pregnancy. I was diagnosed with COVID at 32 weeks pregnant. We set up a telehealth appt and she immediately contacted my perinatologist to Collaborate with him on a plan of care. She was accessible to me daily. I could not have gotten through the nightmare of COVID during pregnancy without her support.
Whenever I called the on call doctor they always responded immediately. They were all so kind and helpful at all hours of the night and day. I am so thankful I found Women’s Health Partner’s!!

If you are pregnant and looking for the best care, you found the right place. I saw a few doctors from the Women’s Health Partner office in Boca, and they were all amazing. Most important is that when the labor time came, Dr. Newman and his team were there for me. They were the most caring and experienced doctors you can ask for. Dr. Ciaccio delivered my baby. If I have to do it again I wouldn’t excitate to be with them. I can go on and on on how much I’m thankful for their service. I am also grateful for the receptionist, specially Heidi, she is wonderful.
