Born and raised in a small town, Monroe, Ct, Donna migrated to Miami, FL with her twin sister to attend Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. City life was a big change! Graduating in 1974 from Jackson, Donna attended Florida Atlantic University to attain her BSN. (1974-1976)
Her nursing career included spinal cord rehab, orthopedic med-surg followed by 14 years of Labor & Delivery & Maternal- Child nursing education. The time spent in Labor & Delivery motivated her to further her education. Graduated from the University of Miami (1993) with a MSN in Nurse-Midwifery.
Board certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the specialty of Nurse Midwifery, she began a career in Woman’s Healthcare that has spanned 30 years and included bringing precious life into the world.
Throughout this time, Donna served in the US Army Reserve Nurse Corp for 20 years and is a Retired Lieutenant-Colonel. Her Reserve career included humanitarian missions to other countries and serving through Desert Shield.
Today she enjoys OB/GYN in the office setting only. She enjoys empowering women to be the best they can be with a strong focus on preventive healthcare. She particularly enjoys taking care of young women who are experiencing their first GYN exams. She sets the bar for future exams for these women and the expectations they should have for their visits.
Fun Facts: Donna became an amateur radio telephone operator at age ten, enjoyed ballet and guitar, became a private pilot in her 20’s and was on an exhibition clogging team. Always adventurous and up for a challenge she has crossed things off the bucket list – motorized hang gliding, tandem parachuting, hot air ballooning, white water rafting, ziplining.
While working in labor & delivery, going to grad school and serving in the military she raised 3 children and today has a grandchild and one on the way.
