Born and raised in a small town, Monroe, Ct, Donna migrated to Miami, FL with her twin sister to attend Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. City life was a big change! Graduating in 1974 from Jackson, Donna attended Florida Atlantic University to attain her BSN. (1974-1976)

Her nursing career included spinal cord rehab, orthopedic med-surg followed by 14 years of Labor & Delivery & Maternal- Child nursing education. The time spent in Labor & Delivery motivated her to further her education. Graduated from the University of Miami (1993) with a MSN in Nurse-Midwifery.

Board certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the specialty of Nurse Midwifery, she began a career in Woman’s Healthcare that has spanned 30 years and included bringing precious life into the world.

Throughout this time, Donna served in the US Army Reserve Nurse Corp for 20 years and is a Retired Lieutenant-Colonel. Her Reserve career included humanitarian missions to other countries and serving through Desert Shield.

Today she enjoys OB/GYN in the office setting only. She enjoys empowering women to be the best they can be with a strong focus on preventive healthcare. She particularly enjoys taking care of young women who are experiencing their first GYN exams. She sets the bar for future exams for these women and the expectations they should have for their visits.

Fun Facts: Donna became an amateur radio telephone operator at age ten, enjoyed ballet and guitar, became a private pilot in her 20’s and was on an exhibition clogging team. Always adventurous and up for a challenge she has crossed things off the bucket list – motorized hang gliding, tandem parachuting, hot air ballooning, white water rafting, ziplining.

While working in labor & delivery, going to grad school and serving in the military she raised 3 children and today has a grandchild and one on the way.

    Doctor Abdalla has been my provider during some of the darkest and brightest times of life. From immediately solving a 2 year long fertility battle for me, to taking over care for me when he was not the on-call doctor in the hospital in the middle of the night, to providing calming energy when I needed it most, this doctor is the best OBGYN I have ever had. He is not an alarmist and is very calm under pressure. I would never see another provider as long as I can avoid it. If I could give 10 stars I would!

    My wife and I have our first baby with Dr. Abdalla and his team at Sawgrass Women Healthcare! BEST DOCTOR AND STAFF! He is extremely friendly and definitely knows h stuff. My wife had to get an emergency C and he was there for us when everything just started hitting the fan. His staff were extremely friendly. I had a blast going for every doc visit with the nurses joking around. Definitely made this entire process smooth. He extremely skilled and experienced and even though I am no longer in FL, I am seriously interviewing other OBGYNs to see if they meet his standards.     Dr. Catalano is a godsend. He’s a very patient person who genuinely cares about his patients He always takes the time to explain things to me in terms that I can understand.     I have seen Donna for about ten years now. I started seeing her for symptoms of menopause, and she helped me navigate the otherwise confusing paths. She also prescribed natural bio-identical hormones because I didn’t want to do synthetic HRT. I have always had my questions answered, and have recommended her to friends and coworkers. I will continue to be a loyal patient to Donna as long as she is practicing!

    Dr. Abdalla and his staff are absolutely amazing. He and His nurse practitioner Donna are extremely professional, caring, and they make sure that you understand things at every appointment. I did have to see the other physician one time during an OB appointment and he was great as well. If there is ever a wait due to the doctor, or the nurse practitioners being in a delivery, the office is very communicative, and they keep you informed. Originally I had seen another OB when I first found out I was pregnant and did not have a great experience so I was recommended to see Dr Abdalla. I cannot express how thankful I am to have made the switch.

    Dr. Emil Abdalla is the best!.. He delivered my daughter. He listened to what I wanted for my delivery plan & catered to me. Just him & one nurse for the baby in the room. It was a beautiful experience. He has done an excellent job of taking care of my health care needs both before and after. I have been seeing him for 20 years now.     He is absolute magic! Caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Dr. C delivered both of my children as well as my sister’s. He has the best team. I met him through my original provider who was unable to complete a procedure for me and Dr. C stepped in. He took time and care to explain the situation and encouraged me to continue trying. We now have two beautiful children. Not only will he listen but also refer you to the best outside of his specialty if needed.
