Our pediatric practice was founded by Dr. Irving Stemerman in 1950. He was one of the first physicians south of Flagler Street to devote himself exclusively to the care and well being of infants, children, and adolescents. He opened his first office on Coral Way and got to know many of the families in the Westchester area. He moved the practice to its present location in 1960 when Baptist Hospital was considered to be on the western fringe of Kendall. The office has remained in this same location since that move and has gradually grown from a one doctor practice to a seven doctor and nurse practitioner group.
Our practice offers a full range of pediatric services including prenatal visits, wellness visits from infancy through the college years, same-day appointments for our patients that are ill, all recommended pediatric vaccines, basic lab services using our in-office lab, and diagnosis and medical management for our patients with ADHD symptoms. We are accepting new patients and do our best to meet their needs for a timely first appointment. Our practice strives to deliver highly personalized care and emphasizes continuity by attempting to have patients see their primary doctor in the group whenever possible. Most patients will, however, get to know a second doctor in the group who can see their child when their primary doctor is not in the office.
Our doctors have staff privileges at Baptist Hospital, South Miami Hospital, and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Our physicians are familiar with most all the pediatric subspecialists in our service area and can assist you with referrals if and when the need arises.
We warmly welcome you to our practice and hope you will always be pleased with the care we provide to your children. If you ever have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to speak with our office manager Jackie Cardenas.
Once again, welcome to PPA.
