About Weston Family Medicine

About Us

Weston Family Medicine is a small family practice, in South Florida, catering to the needs of patients for over 20 years. Established in 1996, our team of experienced providers takes the time to personally care and treat our patients as if they were family. We provide our patients with hand-tailored care, such as family medicine, nutrition and wellness.

The most important aspect of family medicine, is that family physicians pay special attention to their patients’ lives within the context of family and the community. While there are similarities between family medicine and the other primary care specialties, family physicians have an extraordinary opportunity to have an impact on the health of an individual patient over a person’s entire lifetime.

Please see answers to frequently asked questions below!

An MD, or Doctor of Medicine, and a DO, or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, are similarly educated and certified. The differences are seen in their training and philosophy of patient care. Practicing DO, Dr. Rosenberg, focuses on seeing the patient as a “whole person” to reach a diagnosis, rather than treating the symptoms alone.

A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse with advanced education and training. Physicians and Nurse Practitioners are similar in that they both diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic diseases, interpret labs and diagnostic tests, and prescribe medicine.

There is no way of telling how long your visit with the doctor will be, due to a variety of circumstances. Two main factors that influence appointment time are appointment types and the tailored care each doctor provides for their patients. Appointments can range from a quick in and out visit to a comprehensive physical.

We understand that no one plans on getting sick and life cannot stop because you do. Occasionally, we can fit in sick patients the same day. These fit-ins will be seen by the first available provider, regardless of who is in the office at the time of your visit.

Weston Family Medicine hopes we don’t inconvenience you by any wait time you may experience. However, our providers believe that all patients deserve individualized attention and should not feel rushed in the exam rooms.

There is no denying you know your body best. You may have been diagnosed recently by a different doctor, however the best way for our providers to treat their patients is to personally interview and examine each patient to determine a proper diagnosis.

Chronic conditions such as hypertension, depression, and diabetes need to be closely monitored. Your provider will prescribe medication for a certain amount of time and you will schedule a follow-up visit, so the provider can verify you are stable on your medication. Your prescription most likely will not be refilled until you have been seen for that follow-up visit.

Our providers are very busy during their business hours, seeing patients. Calls, along with any questions or comments you have throughout the day, won’t be relayed to the providers until their breaks. Refill requests are not top priority because it is not an urgent matter. We ask all patients to call us 5-7 days before they have completed their current dose to avoid running out of their medication. Your provider will refill your prescription; however, it may take up to five days. The staff CANNOT refill your prescription without a provider’s approval. Please, remember our providers do not work every day. If you are calling for a refill you might need to wait until the prescribing provider is in the office. As a general rule, the providers will NOT prescribe medication for you if they personally have not seen and diagnosed you with the issue.

After we receive your lab results, and the doctor has analyzed it, we will call you to inform you of the results. We call all of our patients no matter what the result is. However, you can get your lab results online! If you went to a Quest lab you can find your results at MyQuest.com. If you went to a LabCorp lab you can find your results at labcorp.com/results. Please understand the staff is unable to analyze your lab results and therefore are unable to relay your lab results without your provider’s approval.
