Urinary Incontinence

Urinary incontinence – loss of bladder control – is a common and often embarrassing problem. The intensity ranges from occasional loss of urine when you cough or sneeze to having a need to urinate so suddenly and forcefully that you don’t get to the bathroom in time.

Although it occurs more often as people age, urinary incontinence is not an inevitable consequence of aging. If urinary incontinence affects your daily activities, don’t hesitate to see your doctor. For most people, simple lifestyle changes or medical treatment can relieve discomfort or stop urinary incontinence.

  • Restrict your activities and limit your social interactions
  • Increase the risk of falls in older adults when they rush to the bathroom
