Laboratory Testing and Screening
As a pediatric practice, we are concerned with the health and well-being of every child. Because of this, we follow the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association’s recommendations for pediatric clinics. According to these recommendations, we screen for inherited cholesterol problems at age 10 and 17. Included in this screening is a full lipid panel that evaluates HDL, LDL, and triglycerides. This screening process helps inform and prevent further problems in the fight against childhood obesity.
These tests can provide many different answers about your child’s health. The need for laboratory testing services must be referred by a physician. After the testing is approved, the results can usually be determined in-house and then a diagnosis and treatment plan, if needed, can be established by one of our pediatricians. Diagnosis, answers and comprehensive treatment plans can be provided for your child in the following areas:
- Certain viral syndromes
- Urinary tract and kidney problems
- Strep throat
- Anemia, blood infections and leukemia
Carithers provides multiple tests to provide quick and accurate answers for you and your child. By screening and receiving results sooner, our pediatricians can be proactive in the field of pediatric medical care.
