Dr. Mañuel Penalver at the present time is the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Dr. Penalver is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine, from 1977, and subsequent to that completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency program at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. Subsequent to his residency he completed a fellowship in gynecological oncology in the same institution, and then stayed on in the faculty from 1984-2004 and rose to the position of Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
During his tenure at the University of Miami, he had a very busy clinical practice and was awarded numerous student as well as residency teaching awards. From 2003 to the present time, he has been in private practice in gynecology and gynecological oncology in Miami, FL, and has served for the last 10 years as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
He specializes in gynecology and gynecological oncology and continues to be very busy in clinical practice as well as in teaching. At the present time, his office is located in southwest Miami, and he does surgery and teaches at Coral Gables Hospital and Kendall Regional Medical Center.
He is Board-Certified in both obstetrics and gynecology, and gynecologic oncology. He is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Society of Pelvic Surgeons, the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, and many others. Ha has published extensively and has presented at National and International Medical Conferences.
