I was born to be an OB-GYN! It is a great feeling to take care of women’s health needs from adolescence through menopause and across generations and to consider many of my patients through the years as part of my extended family. It has been fun and special to have the privilege of delivering the babies of several young women that I brought into the world.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Dr. Javier Vizoso earned his medical degree from Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California San Diego Medical Center and served as chief resident. After completing his residency, he joined Dr. Nathan Hirsch as one of the founding partners of South Miami OB-GYN Associates.
Dr. Vizoso was named Most Outstanding Student in OB-GYN by the Connecticut Society of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has been awarded one of “ America’s Top Doctors-Obstetrics & Gynecology ” by Castle Connolly since 2010.
As a leader in the field of OB-GYN, Dr. Vizoso has served as chairman of numerous hospital committees. He is the past Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at both South Miami Hospital and Baptist Hospitals. Dr. Vizoso also was a volunteer for more than 20 years at Liga Contra El Cancer in Miami, an intake and treatment facility for indigent individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Vizoso is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
