Cosmetic Fillers
Filler types offered include hyaluronic acid, collagen stimulators, and the patient’s own fat. They all have unique characteristics that determine which product would be most appropriate for the particular area and the desired cosmetic effect. These fillers are temporary—their longevity depends on the type of filler, the volume injected and the location. Filler types include hyaluronic acid (Juvéderm™, Restylane, and Perlane), collagen (Evolence) and autologous fat.
Hyaluronic Acid is a natural complex sugar found in all living cells. It is one of the major components of skin that atrophies over the natural course of aging. It is most often used to treat the nasolabial fold (smiles lines) and to add lip volume. It can also be used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and other facial depressions (eyelid cheek junction, marionette lines – lines beneath the mouth). With enough volume, it can also add fullness and lift to the brow and cheeks. Longevity of the filler ranges from four to twelve months, depending on location of injection.
Fat grafting provides volume by using your own tissue. While the risks of rejection or allergy are minimal with the other injectables, it is non-existent when you use your own fat. This technique relies on harvesting fat cells from areas of excess and injecting it to areas of depletion, where the fat cells re-establish blood supply to survive. Successful transfer of the living cells will deliver significantly increased longevity to the result.
Collagen is a new dermal filler made of natural collagen, also used to treat wrinkles and volume-depleted areas. Collagen provides volume and structure to most tissues in the human body, including skin. Collagen depletes naturally over time as we age, leading to a tired or aged appearance. This happens through the formation of new wrinkles and folds, and changes in facial contour and structure. The natural pace of collagen loss can by accelerated by such factors as sun exposure, genetics, hormonal changes, and smoking. By replacing lost collagen with an advanced collagen compound, Evolence® dermal filler can help enhance and maintain the structure, volume, and naturally younger-looking appearance of your skin. It delivers immediate results that could last at least six months.
